Single-family starts have climbed steadily since
2014, but remained at roughly 70 percent of the
1.3 million-unit level considered “normal,” the
National Association of Home Builders (NAHB)
said. NAHB projects that home starts will reach
the 1.3 million mark in 2021.

Home remodeling spending
approaches record levels
The multibillion-dollar U.S. home-remodeling
industry continues to pick up steam. Spending
on home remodels and repairs is forecast to hit
new post-recession heights this year, reaching a
projected annualized pace of nearly $339 billion
in fourth-quarter 2018, according to Harvard
University’s Joint Center for Housing Studies.
