In early November 2013, Typhoon Haiyan, one of the strongest storms ever recorded, slammed into
the Philippines; affecting over 14 million people – nearly 6 million of them children.
Seattle Funding Group (SFG) and Scotsman Guide Media (SGM) have joined hands to help the
survivors of Typhoon Haiyan through the U.S. Fund for UNICEF.
UNICEF has been in the Philippines since 1947, working to provide the best quality of life for every
Filipino child through programs that help them survive and flourish. As the long road to recovery
from Haiyan begins, UNICEF is reaching vulnerable children and families most in need, and working
to build resilient systems and communities that are strong enough to withstand future calamities.
